SOS-HR News - Suffolk Businesses are Guided to Workplace Wellbeing
Friday, 26 March 2010 15:40

How do Suffolk businesses tackle stress in the workplace? What can you do if you are worried about a colleague? How can you make sure you are up to date with new employment law? Answers to all these questions and more are available in a free toolkit for managers developed by Suffolk Business Minded in partnership with local businesses.

The ‘Manager’s desk guide - for workplace mental wellbeing’ is designed to be used by line managers, team leaders and anyone who manages staff, and is free to local businesses and employers.

Suffolk Business Minded is an initiative launched by Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust in 2009 as part of its popular anti-stigma campaign ‘If you knew…’ It was developed in partnership with Suffolk and Bury Chambers of Commerce as well as local business experts including SOS HR.

As well as providing quick access information for dealing with immediate problems, the guide supports employers to promote a positive approach to stress, anxiety and mental health issues in the workplace.

The guide is set out in a way that allows key information to be found fast and covers
topics such as:

  • Managing persistent absenteeism
  • What to do if you think one of your staff has an issue
  • How to help and communicate with a member of staff in a
  • distressed condition
  • Human resources and recruitment
  • Occupational health
  • Employment law

It will help new managers make a good start in supporting their team to achieve greater productivity, as well as providing a useful refresher for more experienced managers.

To request your free copy of the guide please contact Clare Whight at SOS-HR on 01473 276170 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
