BG Felixstowe Makes Maiden Call at Namesake Port
Wednesday, 01 April 2009 00:00

The Port of Felixstowe welcomed the maiden call of the BG Felixstowe on 11th March 2009.

Owned and operated by BG Freight, the BG Felixstowe forms part of the ‘Dublin Express Link’, a weekly speed-link directly to Dublin. At 133m long, and with a capacity of 974 TEU, the vessel will provide additional capacity between Rotterdam, the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Chris Lewis, CEO of HPUK commented:

“We are pleased to welcome this ship to her namesake port. The new service further enhances the range of short-sea and feeder options available at Felixstowe. It is important that we offer a wide range of carriers and services to European importers and exporters, and the Dublin Express Link helps do just that.”

The Port of Felixstowe is also celebrating an additional weekly coastal service on the East Coast. The Feederlink service offers twice-weekly calls from Felixstowe to Teesport, in addition to calls at Grangemouth and South Shields (Port of Tyne).
